Not long ago, there was a time when things have simpler definition. But as evolution takes place, what once was easier to understand somehow became complicated. Generations ago, having a great job meant sustaining for the whole family until retirement. Nowadays, job hopping and doing side hustles is common.

The measuring stick of success became taller and wider than it was before. Contentment is no longer an excuse to settle for anything less. But if we follow how this world operates, we’ll get tired of the endless cycle. Fortunately, GOD has a better solution. Our Lord Jesus Christ mentioned the cure on his sermon on the mount:

1) Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

2) Blessed are they who mourn for they shall be comforted.

3) Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.

4) Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be satisfied.

5) Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy

6) Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see GOD

7) Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called children of GOD

8) Blessed are they who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

9) Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me

These Beatitudes might be a long list but they speak of having the right attitude towards things we cannot control. It shows how trusting GOD will end up attaining blessings beyond what we can imagine – which is more rewarding.

When things are tough and money is tight, it’s easy to be stingy. However, a generous person will always find ways to give no matter how little they have. If you are in a season of scarcity and thinking that what you can offer to the Lord is too small, then maybe you need to go back to the story of the Multiplication of loaves and fish in the New Testament.

Please know that the Holy Spirit guides each one of us to be creative in sharing our resources. After all, money or material possessions are not just the only things we can share, we also have time and talent to bestow to someone who is in need. A faithful believer will always give whatever they have in them knowing that GOD will have used for it no matter how meager it maybe.

Being in a season of necessity, forces us to depend on the one who is infinite – Our Heavenly Father. He has unlimited supply of everything that we need. Whatever we freely surrender to him as an offering or sacrifice, he will return in surprising ways beyond our expectation. In our Obedience and in his right timing, our lack will turn into abundance.

Once in our lives, we must admit that we experienced a sort of life crisis – more often during middle age. But some do so earlier. If you have been into a situation wherein you were unable to pursue your dreams due to unfavorable circumstances, then you can relate.

After you have dutifully fulfilled your responsibilities and obligations, you might be asking yourself what your purpose really is. Our Heavenly Father has placed a divine void inside our hearts that only he can fill that space.

GOD has a calling for each of us. When we answer the call, we will be able to live a fulfilled life. How do we now his call for our lives? By knowing his heartbeat. Spending time each day reading his words through the Bible, listening to devotionals and praying.

Slowly, through the Holy Spirit, our natural strengths, unique skills and amazing talents will be revealed. The Lord will guide us how to use them through the situations that we will encounter in our lives. He will accompany us towards the end to accomplish GOD’s perfect will.

As this new year rolls out, you might have already seen a lot of post about reflections for the past year. Lucky ones might share about their wins, blessings, achievements and lessons they learned.

For some, they can only recall the struggles, challenges and difficulties they endured just to finish the previous year. I chanced upon a post from a former colleague of mine advising her followers to be nice, as not all experienced a good turn around last year.

If you are in a period of asking the Lord when will be your time to shine, please know that our Heavenly Father answers our prayers in the best way fitted to his will, to our needs and to our situation, because he knows what’s inside our hearts.

The Holy Spirit guides us to ask for what’s right based on what GOD has placed in our hearts. Do not just ask for material gains or for worldly success. Instead, ask GOD to reveal to us his plans for our lives and for us to have the obedience to follow his will and the courage to pursue it no matter what the circumstances maybe.

Because in the end, Our Heavenly Father’s commendation is better than the people’s applause.

New Year brings new promises – a promise of a brighter future. Most survey says during January, there are a lot of people enrolling in fitness gym. Some are enthusiastic on journaling. While others are passionate on creating goals. These endeavors are nice, but we must remember to start with the essentials first.

Foremost to that is seeking GOD’s will for the year ahead. No matter how good our intentions are, if it’s not part of his plan, it will never succeed. We will only find ourselves exhausted trying to pull out things together just to make it work out.

In the first chapter of the book of Genesis, the fourth word written is “GOD”. It must be wise then to start this year with our Heavenly Father in our minds. We can never go wrong if we do. After all, HE always us in His mind.

I used to be the type of person who knows what to do in her life … has direction, knows what she wants and has a plan…well at least, that’s what I thought I was two decades ago… now 47 years old, I am feeling the midlife crisis… the things I previously pursued and planned to do…I no longer want to continue no matter how much my husband and I spent…now, I feel like I wasted everything – the resources and time which GOD and my loved ones gave me and the opportunity that was given to me – to have a better life. Now, all of them are faded memories… why am I having these realizations now? Because, apart from the fact that I am getting older …I do envy my former colleagues and acquaintances whose lifestyles are much better than mine now …They who did not waste time and fought the fear and apprehension that they have and faced the trials and challenges in their lives and confidently trusted in their abilities and much more to God.

Why is Fickle Minded the title of my entry today? because, that’s how I am …even my husband is going nuts with me because I constantly change my mind … I can blame other people, my past experiences and situations for where I am right now… but what good will it bring? now that I am getting older and I can only do so much, I hold on to God’s promise that he is faithful and never changes his mind and looks after me … even if I make mistakes and sins, he is always there for me … Gradually, I learned how to spend quality time with him and put him first in all the things that I plan to do. With the challenges that I have faced and surpassed, his faithfulness truly manifested.
