We all know that the world’s gauge of success is purely based on materialism. You checked on some of your colleagues or acquaintances thru social media and some of them you’ll see are travelling, buying cars or real estate properties or flaunting some of their latest purchases. Of course, your happy for them especially if you know the reason behind those splurges or spending. But admit it, a part of us somehow wishes that just maybe there will come a time for us to experience those “worldly success” too.
Lately however, there’s a new kind of flexing going around – the kind that contradicts the long-followed norm. There are stories going around that European countries such as Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein are practicing the opposite of “showing off”. Most of the citizens in these countries are millionaires. Yet, you’ll see them living a modest life – commuting, residing in simple houses, wearing plain clothes but their bank accounts and investments are accumulating.
Our Lord Jesus Christ came into this world in a humble manger, raised by ordinary Parents with extra ordinary Faith. He was meek even though he is the only son of our Living GOD. He is the heir, yet he chooses to lower himself, to live with us and eventually made the biggest sacrifice of being crucified to save us from our sins. Our Salvation came through him. He does not measure up in the gauge of world’s success. Yet, in the heavenly realm, which is eternal and more essential, he is our ultimate champion.
